Lutherbibliographie, Verzeichnis der im deutschen Sprachbereich erschienenen Drucke des 16. Jahrhunderts (VD 16), Rogge, H.C. Catalogus van de bibliotheek van het Evangelisch Luthersch Seminarium (1876), WA, 1519 L 7321 432 11,230ff. First edition of the first and only Latin translation of Luther's "On Secular Authority," in which Luther addresses the question of sacred and secular authority and outlines his influential "two kingdoms doctrine." The work was first published in German in 1523 in Wittenberg and was soon reprinted in Erfurt, Strasbourg, Speyer and Augsburg. The Latin translation by the German humanist Johann Lonicer is significant as it made this work accessible in other parts of Europe. Translate
