Annotatie | Response by Matthäus Zell, first Protestant pastor in Strasbourg, to the attacks of the local Diocesan office. Zell celebrated mass in the vernacular (German), offered the Lord's Supper in both kinds, and was the first to be accused by his Bishop of heresy. Shortly after his marriage to Katharina Schütz, he was excommunicated on April 3, 1524. Includes episcopal articles accusing Zell of heresy, by M. Geruasiu[s] Sopheru[s], "fürseher Viscal."
