PSALM XXVII (28), f. 15v.
The psalmist as king stands before a tabernacle with curtains drawn to reveal the altar and lamp, and raises his hands to the tabernacle and to the bearded, cross-nimbed Christ-Logos with a cross-staff attended by three angels (verses 1 and 2) and blessing his people with his right hand (verse 9). Behind him, an angel at the head of a group of 'his people,' is holding an umbrella over his head (verse 7). In the foreground, soldiers from two groups, 'the sinners,' are being drawn off one by one by winged demons and thrown into a fiery pit of Hell (verses 3 and 4). Above to the right under a tree the psalmist, represented a second time, points to the pit of Hell with one hand and addresses the Christ-Logos with the other ('Unto thee will I cry, O Lord ... ; lest ... I become like them that go down into the pit,' verse 1).
