PSALM XXXVII (38), f. 22r.
The psalmist, represented as a leper, stands in the center of the picture. Sores cover his body (verses 4, (3) and 6, (5)), arrows stick in his flesh, and four elf-like 'illusiones ' (verse 8, (7)), or 'iniquities' (verse 5, (4)), are placing a heavy sack over his back and shoulder ('as an heavy burden they are too heavy for me,' verse 5, (4)). He appeals to the beardless, cross-nimbed Christ-Logos, holding a bow and arrows, who has risen from a cushioned throne within a mandorla flanked by six angels with bannered staffs. In the left foreground, a group of 'friends' or 'kinsmen' stand 'afar off' (verse 12, (11)). In the opposite corner, the enemy are whispering together and are advancing against the psalmist with spears and scourges (verse 18 (17) and 20, (19)).
