AnnotationAuthor's identity much disputed: attributed to: Petrus Faber (1540 or 1541-1600), Pierre Fabre (1530-1615) or Lambert Daneau (1530-1595) under pseudonym Petrus Faber. Signatures: a-e⁸, f⁴ (f4 blank). According to VD16 possibly printed by Peter Perna in Basel. Pierre Fabre is according to the GLN 15-16 possibly a pseudonym of Lambert Daneau. Verzeichnis der im deutschen Sprachbereich erschienenen Drucke des 16. Jahrhunderts (VD 16), Lindsay, R.O. French political pamphlets, 1547-1648, Duvall, S.H. French Political Pamphlets Collection at the L. Tom Perry Special Collections, Harold B. Lee Library, Brigham Young University, ZV 5691 854. 201 Reply of the noted Huguenot, Fabre, 1530-1615, to his Catholic adversary, Pierre Charpentier, d. 1612. Charpentier, since the St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre, had advised the Huguenots to lay down their arms. He declared their religious pretensions utterly spurious. See Charpentier's "Lettre" of 1572.
