Unnumbered pages: Part 1: title page leaf, twenty-three pages of dedication to Wilhelm V, Duke of Bavaria (1548-1626), signed by Hannard van Gameren, and a six-page excerpt from a letter from Francis Xavier, Superior of the province of India. Woodcut printer's device on page following page 263. Part 2: one-page errata list and printer's device on last page at end of the volume. Part 2 has separate title page with sub-title "De multoruum gentilium ad Christi fidem conuersione per Societatis Iesu Theologos" and starts new pagination sequence and register. Part 2 contains dedication to Gérard d'Hamericourt, Bishop of St. Omer, by Hannard van Gameren. (pages 3-11). Includes letters from Japan, India, Maluku Islands and Brazil. This is a different issue from the one described by Streit, with variations in the preliminaries in part 1. On the last unnumbered preliminary page, the signature of "Franciscus Xauierius" is followed by a woodcut tail-piece, and the numbered sequence begins on the following page. In the issue described by Streit, a further letter by Xavier, dated 1549 and without pagination, begins immediately following Xavier's signature, and continues for 28 pages, so that there are sixty unnumbered preliminary pages in total.
